Expanding on a previous Bachelor of Arts and diverse IT experience both locally and abroad, Janet is continuing her pursuit of learning in the Bachelor of Commerce After Degree program, currently having finished her first year. With a major in Management Information Systems (MIS), Janet aims to stay up to date in the tech field while expanding on her previous IT experience. In her previous degree, Janet enjoyed exploring her interests in Classical Studies, which led her to contribute to discoveries as part of an archaeological field school. While this was rewarding, Janet was always brought back to the IT world, where she collaborated on teams with Apple Retail Inc. in Edmonton and London, UK, leading youth programs and workshops, and then with the University of Alberta’s Information Services & Technology (IST) team.
Janet had an amazing and enlightening time at the NEW Conference in 2017 and wanted to be involved in making sure it was just as valuable for the next cycle of delegates. As VP of Logistics Janet is honoured to bring her enthusiasm to NEW to make sure the next event is a seamless experience for all attendees.
Janet likes to treat her time living in Edmonton as with fresh eyes, making the most of her day-to-day community involvement. She enjoys volunteering with the Society of Northern Alberta Print-artists (SNAP), and with Meals on Wheels. Janet can never say no to cake, so don’t hesitate to contact her if you’d like to learn more about NEW, or just to chat over tea!

Also, having worked for the federal government, Kasia is inspired to learn French and find a career in the public sector.
