Vice President, Sustainability & Communications at Suncor Energy and Vice-Chair of the Suncor Energy Foundation
Arlene Strom is the Vice President, Sustainability & Communications at Suncor Energy and serves as the Vice-Chair of the Suncor Energy Foundation. In these roles, Arlene is accountable for sustainability strategy for the corporation, including community investment and climate change strategy, as well as, communications, stakeholder and aboriginal relations and issues management. Between 2003 and 2009, Arlene held various leadership positions within the Suncor legal group and was Assistant Corporate Secretary to the Suncor Energy Board of Directors. Before joining Suncor, she practiced securities law at Burnet, Duckworth & Palmer LLP and worked for 10 years in sales and marketing in the consumer packaged goods industry.
Arlene currently participates in the University of Calgary mentors program and is a board member of the Calgary Municipal Land Corporation. She served three year terms as a public member of the council for the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta and as a member of the Federal Judicial Advisory Committee for Alberta. She was also a sessional securities law instructor at the University of Calgary Law School.
Arlene has a BA in business administration from Trinity Western University and an MA in political science and LLB from the University of British Columbia.
